How SSL checking works

The checker connects to your domain over HTTPS and inspects the certificate.

  1. Enter your domain

We clean the input, remove protocol or path, and validate the domain format.

  2. Inspect SSL certificate

The tool checks the certificate issuer, validity dates, domain match and expiry status.

  3. Review HTTPS setup

See HTTPS response, redirect behavior and recommended security improvements.

Understanding SSL status

Valid

A valid certificate was found and the domain matches the certificate.

Expiring soon

The certificate is valid now, but should be renewed soon.

Expired

The certificate is no longer valid and browsers may show warnings.

Domain mismatch

The certificate does not match the checked hostname and should be fixed.

SSL protects the connection, but it does not replace a full website security check.

Frequently asked questions

An SSL certificate helps secure the connection between a website and its visitors by enabling HTTPS.
A valid SSL certificate must be issued by a trusted certificate authority, match the domain and be within its validity period.
Browsers may show security warnings, and visitors may lose trust or be unable to access the website safely.
A mismatch happens when the certificate was issued for a different hostname than the one being checked.
It is strongly recommended. Without a redirect, users may still access the insecure HTTP version of the website.
